Rio Perdido offers quiet luxury in a very natural environment. The staff were fantastic- nothing was too much trouble and they were so friendly and kind. We stayed n an eat bungalow which was perfect for a couple or family of 3- huge bed, couch to chill on, lots of storage, good size bathroom and cute deck with hammocks where we sat and watched the monkeys playing in the trees. The food was delicious with lots of choices for all meals and daily specials. The setting of the hotel is spectacular- set in the forest with lots of areas for hiking and animal spotting. The highlight was the thermal river- I’ve never experienced anything like it- 3 natural thermal pools in the river where the water is fed from the nearby volcano- the hottest pool was like a hot bath! The swimming pools in the hotel are also fed from the river and therefore warm- great for relaxing but a bit small and warm for actual swimming. The hotel offers lots of activities- we did the river tubing which was great fun, and the complimentary hike and yoga( in the beautiful yoga studio in the forest). It’s quite pricey ( converting from GBP) but worth it for a few days of real relaxation in a unique location.
